Queensland tourism has boomed since the re-opening

If you are itching to exchange the hustle of the city for South-East Queensland’s wow-worthy vistas, national parks and local produce, we suggest having a look at ESCAPE in the Scenic Rim‘s month-long celebration of eco-friendly experiences, which includes everything from hikes and hot-air ballooning to luxury camping packages and picnic lunches with alpacas.

Even though it’s only April, many of us are already feeling the toll of a taxing start to the year. When we’ve spent to much time navigating the rat race, we find it’s best to get back in touch with nature – even for a day trip.

On Friday April 29, Scenic Rim Regional Council will kick off a month-long adventure tourism program geared towards getting city folk like us out of the house or office at amongst some of Southeast Queensland’s breathtaking surrounds. ESCAPE in the Scenic Rim will take place across the region’s World Heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforests, mountains and the lush areas, and will boast a collection of nature-based activities for all ages and all levels of fitness.

When we say there’s something for everyone, we mean it – from rugged campers to the mod-con-craving glampers, expeditionists to the epicurious, and wildlife lovers to the history buffs.

While it’s hard to narrow down a list of highlights of the month-long program, we can pinpoint some truly one-of-a-kind options guaranteed to leave an indelible experience. Those eager to get elevated can sign on for tandem hang gliding or a behind-the-scenes ballooning session, while those more fond of terra-firma-bound outings can enjoy a hike and picnic with an alpaca or a self-guided 4WD scavenger hunt.

If you’re looking to indulge in Scenic Rim’s culinary delights, the program features a day-and-night experience navigating the Spicers Scenic Rim Trail (complete with luxury glamping accommodation), though adventure seekers might be more inclined to embark on a five-day trek from Binna Burra to Mount Barney National Park. We’ve barely had a chance to touch on the program’s story-telling workshopslagoon walksyoga sessionsbush tucker high teas and rejuvenating spa packages.

That’s how jam-packed the month is. We suggest heading to the ESCAPE in the Scenic Rim website to take a deep dive into the program yourself.

ESCAPE in the Scenic Rim will take place from Friday April 29 to Sunday May 29.
