Lambie says climate change plan her top priority

Senate crossbencher Jacqui Lambie has nominated tackling climate change as her most pressing priority for the year.

The Tasmanian independent, whose swing vote will be crucial on controversial legislation, wants to devise a “plan of attack” in response to global warming.

“What we all need to be achieving is coming up with a plan with what is going on with the climate and how we’re going to tackle that,” Lambie told ABC radio on Thursday.

“I think right now that is the most important thing on the agenda.”

It is a slightly surprising topic for Lambie to pursue given she rarely speaks about climate change and tends to focus on issues involving defence veterans and integrity in politics.
