Emergency services responded to calls about a blaze at a Townsville home after 11pm on Tuesday night.
After they extinguished the fire, the body of a person believed to be a man was found in the debris.
Police said the person is believed to be a resident of the house.
Three men in their 40s and 50s were treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.
One was treated for burns to his head and hand, another suffered smoke inhalation, while the third man was treated for a cut arm, Queensland Ambulance Service said.
It is not known if the three men lived at the Hermit Park house.
A crime scene has been established and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire, police said.
