Four homes lost, street evacuated but no-one hurt in Brisbane inner-city inferno
Firefighters have put out a massive blaze that ripped through four homes in Brisbane’s inner south, creating heat so intense it melted rubbish bins across the road.

Neighbours were evacuated and police set up an exclusion zone as fire crews battled the inferno on a Woolloongabba street early on Thursday morning.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews were called about 2.30am and arrived to find two properties well alight, with the fire spreading to homes either side.
Two properties collapsed in the inferno and the other two were badly damaged.
Three of the properties were occupied and the six people inside were quickly accounted for.
Crews extinguished the blaze by about 4am.
“Very fortunately, nobody was injured or killed,” QFES Superintendent Tim Watkins told the Nine Network.
The fire was so intense it melted rubbish bins across the road, he said.
“Unfortunately, there were four houses lost, but without the efforts of the crews here this morning it could have been far worse,” Supt Watkins said.
Police have cancelled their emergency declaration and nearby residents have since been allowed back in their homes.
Investigators have begun into the cause of the blaze.
