Boy, 5, in critical condition as man charged with torture of three children

A man has been charged with torture and grievous bodily harm of three children after a young boy was found with critical injuries southeast of Brisbane.

Emergency services discovered the seriously injured five-year-old boy when called to a home at Wishart around 9.30pm on Saturday.

The boy was transported in critical condition to the Queensland Children’s Hospital.

Two other injured children, a girl, six, and a boy, eight, were discovered in the garage of the property.

Both children were taken to the hospital with extensive, but not life-threatening, injuries, police said.

A 29-year-old man faces domestic violence-related charges, including multiple counts of torture and assault.

The charges include seven counts of assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence offence), three counts each of torture (domestic violence offence) and assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed (domestic violence offence) and one count of grievous bodily harm (domestic violence offence)

The man, known to the children, is expected to face Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.
