Adib was present at a meeting between Brisbane Olympic organisers and senior members of the Internation Olympics Committee on Sunday.

No other partners were present at the meeting and Adib’s presence was labelled inappropriate and “weird” by the Opposition.

The Premier said she was wrong and should have organised a private meeting.

“I recognise that I have made a mistake and I should not have taken my partner to that meeting,” the Premier said.

“I apologise. It was never intentional to cause any distress to anybody and it was an informal catch up.”

“I invited him and I made a mistake. We were all in town (in Sydney) and we got together on a Sunday. It was an informal catch up.”

She said she only discussed issues that were known publicly such as the international broadcast centre, cross river rail and the first meeting of the Organising Committee of the Games board.

“There were a lot of Olympians in the room, there were a lot of politicians in the room, she said.

“I understand (Federal Sports Minister) Colbeck had a private meeting. In hindsight I should have just had a private meeting.”

She said Olympic officials would also be travelling around the south east this week looking at venues and meeting with mayors.

“I’m very lucky and very blessed to have someone that supports my role, it is a big role to run this state,” she said.

“My partner will be coming with me to different functions, but he will not be coming to any meetings or catch-ups.”

Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner would not buy into the issue when asked about it on ABC radio Brisbane on Tuesday.

“The important thing is we’re gearing up for the 2032 Olympics, and lots of meetings are happening, lots of in-person engagements are happening, that’s the important thing,” he said.

“Let’s focus on what’s really important here which is getting ready gearing up and making sure there’s a great legacy for our community.”
