Body found at notorious Babinda swimming hole

A woman’s body has been found at a popular north Queensland swimming spot one day after she was reported missing.

Police, Fire and Emergency Services and SES crews began a search for a 19-year-old Edmonton woman on Monday after she slipped and fell into the water at the Babinda Boulders scenic reserve in the Cairns region.

Her body was located at 8am on Tuesday.

Queensland Police are liaising with her family and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Multiple drownings have occurred at the popular spot over the past decades.
