Police are asking for any public assistance in identifying the men who were involved in a brawl and high speed chase that left the young man in hospital fighting for his life.

He was found on the side of the road in the suburb of Carbrook early Sunday morning, before being taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

CCTV footage shows a group of men exiting a silver Toyota Camry and approaching a red Holden Commodore in Fortitude Valley before an altercation occurs.

The group then runs back to the vehicle before pursuing the Commodore down the M1 motorway to Carbrook.

“This cohort of seven we believe are the offending group and the other group are the victim group in his in his instance,” Detective Inspector Brendan Smith said.

“Clearly, this was a vicious assault. As I previously mentioned, this young man is still in hospital in an induced coma fighting for his life.

“We’re very determined to bring those responsible before the courts and seek the justice on behalf of himself and also the families.

Police also allege both the offending and victim groups are known to authorities and have been part of a broader group that have come to their attention in recent months.

The silver Camry and red Commodore have both been found and seized by police.
