The bureau said very heavy falls were likely in some bayside areas on Sunday, with the wet weather expected to begin on Friday.
There was a “high to very high chance of showers tending to rain at times” on Sunday, according to the bureau’s forecast.
The bureau is also warning about strong winds and dangerous surf conditions at the weekend.
Heavy rainfall was likely for the Gold Coast and showers for the Sunshine Coast.
The bureau is also forecasting a wetter than average December and January for eastern parts of the state.
