When one hears the word “pleasuredome”, we tend to think of something a bit naughty. Not to say that you won’t get a dose of that once you stroll into Brisbane Powerhouse’s newest outdoor venue, but you’ll get oh-so much more. Located on the Performance Lawn, the Pleasuredome is a 520-sqm Nordic-style tent structure that features full-service bars and alfresco lounging areas with flexible configurations to accommodate up to 450 guests. Truly eye-catching, this New Farm newcomer was concepted by Brisbane Powerhouse CEO and artistic director Kate Gould and leading Australian stage and site designer Bruce McKinven (of Dark Mofo fame) and is set to host a bevy of upcoming special events.

During Brisbane Powerhouse’s major festivals, the breezy venue will transform into full theatre mode to stage music, comedy, circus, theatre, dance and cabaret. When it’s not being utilised as Brisbane’s freshest event space, the Pleasuresome will be free to the public to relax within every Saturday morning during the Jan Powers Farmers Markets. The venue will also host both Brisbane Powerhouse special events and private functions throughout the year – you can even suss out it out as a wedding space!

The Pleasuredome is one part of a collection of major outdoor activations announced by Brisbane Powerhouse earlier this year, and will be followed closely by the launch of a new outdoor cinema. Keep your eyes peeled on The Weekend Edition as we reveal more details on that closer to when the film starts rolling.
