Appointments: Aurizon brings two directors on board

A Unilever executive heads to a Sunshine Coast company, the District Court loses a judge and Aurelia’s new boss are among this week’s appointments and departures.

Aurizon adds two to board

Rail and logistics company Aurizon has appointed Snowy Hydro director Tim Longstaff and Clean Energy Finance Corporation director Samantha Tough to its board.

It follows the retirement from the board of Kate Vidgen.

Longstaff has also worked for Deutsche Bank and is a director at Inghams and Perenti. He is also a member of the Takeovers Panel.

Tough currently works as University of Western Australia pro vice chancellor industry and commercial. She is also on the board of Horizon Power, Fleunce Corporation and Rumin8.

Unilever executive cleans up

Former Unilever executive Wendy Rattray has joined Sunshine Coast company Pleasant State as an advisor.

Pleasant State produces a range of chemical-free cleaning products and claims to be in more than 20,000 homes in Australia and New Zealand.

Rattray was chief financial officer at Unilever and currently works as a chief operating officer at Carmen’s Kitchen.

Rinaudo leaves bench

Judge Ray Rinaudo has retired from the District Court. He was appointed in 2005 and also served 14 years with the Magistrate’s Court and rose to chief magistrate in 2014.

Before his time on the bench he was a solicitor and a commissioner of the Legal Aid Commission and the Crime and Misconduct Commission.

Aurelia gets new boss

Aurelia Metals has appointed former Oz Minerals and BHP executive Bryan Quinn as managing director.

His former responsibilities included president of joint ventures (Americas and Africa) and global chief technical functions.

He will earn a fixed salary of $800,000 exclusive of superannuation. There will also be short and long term incentives and sign-on shares.

EmVision succession

Medtech company EmVision had appointed Scott Kirkland to replace a retiring Ron Weinberger as managing director.

Weinberger would remain as a non-executive director.

Kirkland was a co-founder of the company and has been an executive director since the start in 2017.

Vanadium company picks leader

Richmond Vanadium, a proponent of a vanadium project in north west Queensland, has appointed current non-executive director Jon Price as managing director.

It follows the decision of Dr Shaun Ren to resign.

Price is a Griffith University graduate and has more than 30 years in the industry. He previously worked for Gold Fields, Phoenix Gold and Horizon Minerals.

REIQ boosted to nine

The Real Estate Institute of Queensland has appointed Jeffrey Batten to the board taking it to nine directors.

REIQ chief executive Antonia Mercorella said she was confident that Batten’s “considerable technological prowess” would be invaluable.

Dao joins resources board

APLNG chief executive Khoa Dao has joined the board of the Queensland Resources Council along with Anglo’s Carlos Davila

Dao has more than 30 years of experience in the gas industry. Davila is head of strategy, business development and joint venture at Anglo Coal.

Duke’s new board

The shareholder approval of Duke’s acquisition of True North has meant changes to the board.

Toko Kapea has resigned as director and Martin Costello has been appointed as managing director.

Russell heads to Suncorp

After five years as media adviser to Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, Zoe Russell has announced she is heading to Suncorp as manager of media relations.

Tymlez finds replacement

Education company Tymlez said Dr Raffaele Marcellino has been nominated to replace Daniel O’Halloran as non-executive director.

O’Halloran, an executive director, said he was incredibly disappointed to be leaving.

Marcellino has held university and private posts in Australia and the UK.

The search for a chief executive was underway.
