Executive appointments: New boss for the Ekka

The latest appointments and departures includes resignations of key executives at several major Queensland companies.

Rigg takes on Ekka

The RNA has welcomed Dianne Rigg as its new Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) general manager.

Rigg has more than 15 years-experience as a large venue and destination professional, having worked at some of the largest and most complex venues in Australia, including Sea World, Movie World and Wet n Wild Sydney, as well as the Lionsgate Entertainment World 25,000m2 indoor theme park in China.

Most recently, she was Group General Manager Event Operations of Venues NSW where she was part of the executive leadership team which oversaw the construction and recent opening of the $828 million Allianz Stadium in Sydney.

McNamara gets another board

Former Super Retail Group executive Katie McNamara has landed a board seat at Might Craft as a non-executive director.

McNamara also sits on the boards of Brisbane based Motorcycle Holdings and Opera Queensland.

Ellis steps up

Becky Ellis will be starting a new position theclient solutions director at Isentia.

Ellis has been with the company for three years and was the Queensland state manager and before that she worked for News Corp.

 

McCullagh gets Ethical

Sandra McCullagh has been appointed as a non-executive director at Australian Ethical Investments.

She has been on the investment committee for more than a year and is also a director of WorkCover Queensland.

Metro loses key exec

Metro Mining has revealed that Mitchell Petrie has resigned as company secretary and has been replaced by Robin Bates.

The company said Petrie had informed that he had resigned because of increased commitments.

Bates is a practicing solicitor and chartered secretary.

ALS in search for CEO

Testing and certification company ALS has lost its chief executive Raj Naran who resigned for personal reasons, effective immediately.

Naran had been with the company for about six years. Chief strategy officer Malcolm Deane would sit in as acting CEO until a full time replacement was found.

Chair Bruce Phillips said Naran had been the driving force in growing the company’s market capitalisation from $3.1 billion to $6 billion.

G8 loses key executive

Education group G8 said its chief operating officer, Malcolm Ashcroft, would leave the company mid-year for personal reasons.

No replacement has been announced.

Managing director Pejman Okhovat said had championed the voice of children, families and teams across Australia.

Leaf adds two

Leaf Resources has appointed Henry Cheng and Maurice Fabiani to the board.

Cheng is currently the executive chair of Formosa Group Australia and Fabiani is its chief executive.

Their appointment follows a capital raising in which Formosa took a $5.4 million stake. Fabiani also took a $480,000 stake.

Clarke joins CFB committee

The Committee for Brisbane has welcomed Brett Clark to its advisory panel.

Clark is the co-founder of online healthcare company ePharmacy and Chemist Warehouse Queensland.
