Those who have ventured to the hilly inner-west suburb of Paddington are well aware of its top-tier food and fashion scene. Boasting a spectacular selection of boutique stores, bars, cafes and restaurants, the character-lined streets of Latrobe and Given Terraces host an eclectic mix of epicurean and lifestyle experiences. On Saturday August 5, Brisbane locals will have the chance to eat and explore their way through Paddington at Now & Then Festival – a free outdoor event celebrating one of Brisbane’s oldest suburbs.
Clear your calendar, as on Saturday August 5 Latrobe and Given Terraces’ will come alive for the Paddington Now & Then Festival. Across the day more than 50 Terrace traders will mark their shops, cafes, restaurants or bars with vibrant orange bows throughout the day, inviting explorers to come in and discover what Paddington has to offer. A partnership with Brisbane Open House will add a cultural twist with guided tours and speakers for the history and architecture buffs. With so much happening in just one day, it can be hard to know where to go and what to do. Booze, Boots & Broads
Experience a slice of Brisbane’s booze-filled history with tipple in hand at this hugely entertaining event. Join local legends Mike Hilburger and John Prpic as they take you on the ultimate bar crawl between Paddington’s famous and infamous sip spots.
Villages of Brisbane Architectural Walking Tour
Calling all history buffs and lovers of architecture! Join former Queensland Government architect Malcolm Middleton for a 90-minute walking tour of Paddington’s historical buildings and most notable architecture in partnership with Brisbane Open House. Starting at Trammies Corner and finishing at the Ithaca War Memorial, you will learn all about the built history of Paddington and stories behind some of its most beloved buildings.
The Terrace Walk and Win
Grab your family, friends or fur-baby and embark on a 1.8-km walking trail from Suncorp Stadium to Trammies Corner. Along the way explore a range of boutique stores or take a pit-stop at one of Paddington’s enticing eateries, while you immerse yourself in the history and architecture of one of Brisbane’s oldest suburbs. The best part? Complete the walk and you will go in the draw to win the ultimate Paddington experience, valued at more than $5000.
