Pop’s ambassador of love Carly Rae Jepson hits The Tivoli this Thursday night – her first time in Australia since 2019 – with a buoyant set of dance-floor tunes. Then, indie-rock queen Stella Donnelly graces The Triffid stage on Friday night with hits from her second studio album. Keen? Grab your final tickets here. International DJs and dance-music icons Kygo and TIËSTO will be dropping big beats at Riverstage on Saturday night to headline Palm Tree Music Festival, joined by chart-toppers Lost Frequencies and Sam Feldt, alongside Frank Walker and an array of local talent – if you’re quick, you can snag a last-minute ticket here. If 80s music is more your vibe, don the neon tracksuits and get down to boogie at Metro Arts on Saturday night for an evening of high-energy performances, thrilling vocals and tongue-in-cheek comedy at Mixtape: Rewind to the 80s. You’ll be transported back with hits from Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, U2, Prince, Madonna, ABBA, Queen, Cyndi Lauper and more – all remixed and mashed up to get you up and dancing.

Beer lovers are in for a treat this Saturday with Juicy Beer Festival taking over The Fortitude Music Hall on Saturday with 20 brewers from Australia and New Zealand showcasing 90-plus brews – there’ll be beer tastings with infinite refills, pop-up food stalls and live entertainment from local DJs. Theatre and live shows
Queensland Theatre debuts new stage show Drizzle Boy at Bille Brown Theatre this Saturday night – an all-terrain satire that leans into the world of autism as ‘Drizzle Boy’ is poked, prodded and diagnosed by a world that wants to change him and a family who doesn’t understand him. The production runs until Saturday March 28, with tickets available here through Queensland Theatre. The weeks are still melting away before our eyes (how is it March?), which means there’s not long to experience the magic of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s much-loved musical, Hamilton, currently showing at QPAC. The iconic production bows out in late April, so don’t miss out.

Out-of-the-box activities
If you’re into two wheelers, fire breathers, pyrotechnics and raging music, Freestyle Kings Live will be right up your alley. Taking over the Brisbane Entertainment Centre this Saturday night, the adrenaline-fulled show will have you on the edge of your seat for the entire two hours – grab your seats through Ticketek for this weekend’s fiery show. For a dose of knee-slapping comedy, strap yourself in for a night of stand-up at The Sit Down Comedy Club with feature act Kirsty Webeck & Friends this Friday and kick off the weekend on a hilarious note. After mesmerising Sydney folk, immersive experience Australian Geographic: Our Country arrives in Brisbane from this Saturday – it’s a multi-sensory experience comprising works of 25 specialist cinematographers, displayed through large-format multi-screens, that explores the natural landscapes of Australia, from rainforests, oceans and deserts, and celebrate the grandeur and diversity of Australia’s wild places. The showcase is running at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre for the next few weeks – jump here for tickets.

QAGOMA’s summer blockbuster exhibition, Air, is showcasing immersive and large-scale works by leading international and Australian artists exploring the cultural, ecological and political dimensions of air. Courage and Beauty is also gracing the gallery and this spellbinding showcase celebrates the vision and generosity of Queensland art collector and philanthropist James C. Museum of Brisbane is once again inviting art lovers to escape the world outside and enter a new, far more colourful one inside its fun-filled exhibition Play Moves. Sticking around until April 16, this immersive display brings together a bounty of local and national artists for a boundary-breaking art experience like no other. Gold Coast-bound this weekend? HOTA Gallery’s hyped pop-art exhibition, Pop Masters: Art from the Mugrabi Collection, New York, is in full swing. Well worth a trip down the M1, the world-first exhibition showcases works by iconic artists Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat, with collections never before seen in Australia.
