New president for Queensland economic thinktank and public policy strategist

The helm of the ethe Queensland Futures Institute is changing with the retirement of its president Julieanne Alroe who has led the economic think-tank and public policy reformist for the past decade.

 The QFI announced the change today paid tribute to Ms Alroe’s outstanding contribution and leadership of the organisation.

“We wholeheartedly thank Julieanne for her guidance, leadership and support over the last decade, and the generosity she has shown over that time. Julieanne has kindly agreed to continue her support of the QFI as Immediate Past President,’’ the QFI said in a statement.

The QFI is an collective of academic, business, community and social services, government, industry and research organisations seeking faster economic growth through public policy reform.

Ms Alroe’s successor is Kate Farrar, chief executive of Brighter Super which has had a long-standing relationship with QFI.

“Kate’s extensive experience in leadership roles across finance and energy sectors, including as Managing Director of QEnergy, Chief Operating Officer at Ergon Energy Retail, and senior positions at Morgans Stockbroking, McKinsey and Company, and Suncorp Investment Management, positions her perfectly to support and steer QFI towards a promising future,’’ QFI said.

Ms Farrar said her appointment QFI president was a “profound honour”.

“We stand at the cusp of shaping a brighter future for Queensland, our regions, through a lens of growth and innovation, ” Ms Farrar said in a statement.
