Police said the two-and-a-half month old girl arrived at Logan Hospital in June, receiving treatment for serious head injuries.

The injuries may have been inflicted in the days leading up to her being taken to hospital, police said.

Detectives arrested the man on Thursday for the alleged assault and torture of the baby girl at Marsden following “extensive investigations”.

The 28-year-old has been charged with torture, grievous bodily harm and two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.

He is expected to appear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday.
