Police lock down Sunnybank Hills streets as siege develops
Police have declared an emergency situation in the southern Brisbane suburb of Sunnybank Hills as a siege developed.
Police shut down roads in the area after a welfare check on residents in a house in Bradman Street this morning developed into the siege.
Several houses in the nearby Morden Street were also affected.
Police said a man and a woman were inside the house and negotiators were at the scene
It warned the public in the area to stay inside until further advice.
UPDATE: The emergency was revoked at 4pm when police took a 25-year-old into custody. He is assisting police with inquiries relating to the incident in which a 26-year-old woman was held at knifepoint. She was taken to hospital for observation while the man was being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
