Geoscience Australia has confirmed the quake struck at around 1.25pm on Tuesday at Mount Byron in the D’Aguilar Range at a depth of about 10 km.

There were no reports of damage.

Geoscience Australia said about 20 people had reported had contacted the agency saying they felt the tremor.

Social-media users in New Farm, Chermside, Ferny Grove and Moreton Bay reported feeling rumbling.

“I was home at Narangba, eating my lunch, and I heard this rumble — like a thump,” Sue told ABC Radio Brisbane.

“It was like a thump and then there was a rumble, and then the house shook.”

Andrew Samford told ABC Brisbane he felt “a sizeable tremor in the Samford Valley area” that “shook the house”.

Six earthquakes have hit Queensland this year, with the largest at 3.9 magnitude off the coast of Innisfail in the far north in February
