Cindy Wockner interviews two members of the Bali 9, Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran. She wrote a book about the pair's lives and execution in Indonesia.
Wockner is an award-winning journalist, author and foreign correspondent who spent the best part of a decade living and working in Indonesia. She was also a leading writer for News Corp’s Courier-Mail, as well as national. newswire service AAP and the Seven Network.
Wockner covered terrorist bombings in Bali and Jakarta, natural disasters, including the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami in Aceh, and the arrest and trials of Australians Schapelle Corby and the Bali Nine in Bali. Wockner was in Bali when the Bali Nine was arrested and on the night, a decade later, when Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, were executed by firing squad.
She co-authored a book on the Bali Nine (with Madonna King) and later penned The Pastor and the Painter, about the lives and deaths of Chan and Sukumaran.
Wockner also spent two years living and working in Africa, covering the Oscar Pistorius murder trial and the death of Nelson Mandela in South Africa. She will be InQueensland’s senior political writer as Australia heads towards a federal election next year.
