Hopkins was brought to Australia by Network Seven to join its reality television program Big Brother.
But she was dropped from the program after deliberately disobeying safety protocols in hotel quarantine. She had posted a video, since deleted from Instagram, in which she boasted about scaring hotel workers while not wearing a mask.
Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews has since cancelled her visa.
“We will be getting her out of the country as soon as we can arrange that,” Andrews said on Monday.
“I am hoping that will happen imminently.”
Andrews appeared to blame the NSW government for Hopkins coming to Australia, with her visa granted on the basis of economic benefit.
But the federal government is ultimately responsible for issuing visas.
Hopkins was permanently banned from Twitter last year for breaching the “hateful conduct” policy.
