Sofi delivers an elevated Amalfi-style rooftop experience that promises to transport your taste buds to the Mediterranean. Perched atop a newly redeveloped building on Orchid Avenue, the rooftop space brings a taste of sophistication and style to the party precinct with a ‘luxurious-yet-relaxed experience’.

Olive trees, white-washed lounges and rustic urns provide an aesthetic backdrop, complemented by a neutral colour palette featuring pops of terracotta and burnt orange. The impressive 260-seat venue has been co-founded by Michael Hope, the man behind Hunter Valley institution Hope Estate. “Sofi Rooftop is designed to offer guests escapism – a slice of the Amalfi Coast in Surfers Paradise. With a delicious yet casual dining experience, artisan cocktails and a carefully crafted beverage list sourced from around the globe, she’ll quickly become the heart of the Gold Coast social scene,” said Mr Hope.

With a focus on creating a sophisticated and indulgent bar and dining experience, Sofi has appointed award-winning chef, Gerhard Spatz as executive chef. Gerhard has dedicated 35 years of his life to his art, having worked in resort restaurants and hotels across Australia and Europe. Gerhard says the vision behind Sofi Rooftop was to create a simple and clean, yet bold and flavourful menu where you can relish in a variety of Mediterranean-inspired fare.

“Vadouvan-spiced duck paired with Mediterranean gateau, fetta, blackberries and sherry gastrique or Chemoula prawns drizzled with tahini-caper dressing, is just a sample of what you will see from the rooftop menu, with delicious desserts such as the Pink Lady apple tarte tatin, paired with almond frangipane and cinnamon ice-cream,” said Gerhard.

Plant-based eaters will be pleased to know that Sofi Rooftop will also boast a vast vegetarian menu featuring an enticing Tuscan bread salad with baby tomato, taggiasca olive, drizzled in Joseph Estate first run extra virgin olive oil, as well as an indulgent eggplant moussaka with lentil de puy, wood-roasted pepper and bechamel, Gerhard adds. Accompanying the culinary offering is a carefully curated selection of international spirits, champagne, wine and cocktails.
