Exec appointments: Anna Bligh leaves Medibank board

Anna Bligh quits Medibank, Lions chair Andrew Wellington gets a deputy role, and the troubled Star Entertainment appoints a company secretary and more in this week’s appointments.

Bligh departs Medibank

Former Queensland Premier Anna Bligh will leave the Medibank board at the end of its annual meeting on November 22.

Bligh is currently the chief executive of the Australian Banking Association. She joined the Medibank in December 2012 before it listed on the ASX.

She was thanked for her service to the company.

HTW elects female chair

Heron Todd White said Sheena Wilson has been elected as chair of the company, the first woman to hold the position.

Andrew Wellington, who is also chair of the Brisbane Lions, was appointed as deputy chair.

Star’s new secretary

Casino group Star has proposed the appointment of Hamish Macdonald as an additional company secretary, pending regulatory approval.

He has previously been general counsel and company secretary for the New Zealand Stock Exchange and chair of the NZX Corporate Governance Institute.

Star also said Nawal Silfani had accepted a strategic governance role with the company.

LPE adds Kolenc to board

Electricity provider LPE has appointed Stan Kolenc as a non-executive director.

Kolenc is a managing director of a Canadian pension fund and is on the board of several companies including Kinetic and Flow Power, Ararat Wind Farm and Zenith Energy.

KGL picks leaders

KGL Resources has appointed Nicholas Spencer as its chief executive officer. He will lead the development of the Jervois copper project.

Most recently Spencer was Galaxy Gold Mines managing director. That company’s projects are in India and Tanzania.

Chris Dippenaar has been made chief financial officer following the resignation of Amy Treble.

Shake up at Pivotal

Pivotal Metals has appointed Ivan Fairhill as managing director who has previously worked at Mawson Gold and Greenstone Capital.

Fairhill will be based mostly in the Brisbane head office.

Following that appointment, Steven Turner has resigned as chief executive and has joined the board as a non-executive director. Ashley Todd has resigned from the board.

Li-S loses director

Battery hopeful Li-S Energy has revealed that Tony McDonald would not stand for re-election to the board at the AGM in November.

The company has yet to reveal who will replace McDonald.

Metro gets De Falco

Metro Mining said Vincenzo De Falco would join the company as general manager of marine and supply chain.

De Falco has more than 15 years of experience with marine bulk shipping and transhipping with Coeclerici, Louis Dreyfus Armeteurs and IMC Industrial.

Tredinnick returns at Cougar

Cougar Mining Group of Companies has appointed former AJ Lucas Group executive director Brett Tredinnick as its chief executive.
