Exec appointments: Meet the state’s new taxman

The Queensland Revenue Office has a new commissioner and the reform of EML has gathered pace, while Dalrymple Bay is in search for a new CEO.

State’s new taxman

Following an extensive recruitment process, the Queensland Revenue Office has appointed Simon McKee as its the new commissioner.

McKee joined QRO in 2006 and his most recent role was as deputy commissioner, operations and enforcement group. Prior to this, he was acting commissioner in early 2023. During his time at QRO, he has led the delivery of client services for all Queensland state revenue, debt, grants and technology functions.

Coronado adds two directors, promotes Casey

Coal producer Coronado has appointed former BHP executive Aimee Allen and Jan Wilson to the board as non-executive directors.

Susan Casey has also been appointed company secretary, based in Brisbane.

It follows the resignation of Chris Meyering as secretary. Meyering remains as vice president and chief legal officer.

Wilson to leave Transurban

Dr Jane Wilson has announced that she will not stand for re-election for the board of Transurban.

Wilson is also on the board of Rugby Australia and Costa Group and Sonic.

Dr Sarah Ryan, who is also on the Aurizon board, has been appointed as a non-executive director.

CKF waves off Tate

Collins Foods Group farewelled director Russell Tate from his role as non-executive director at today’s annual general meeting.

Tate was chair of the company from its listing to 2015.

The company also welcomed Nicki Anderson and Nigel Clark to the board.

EML adds two execs

Brisbane-based EML has appointed James Georgeson as its chief financial officer and director Peter Lang as chief corporate development office.

Georgeson was most recently the CFO at AMP.

John Gatt, who had been acting CFO would return to his role of Europe CFO.

Lang would stay on the board and would continue as an executive director.

Dalrymple search for new MD

Dalrymple Bay Infrastructure has revealed that long time managing director Anthony Timbrell would soon be leaving the company after 15 years.

A search has started for his replacement.

Chair David Hamill paid tribute to Timbrell who “had built a solid platform for growth”.

Now it’s Dr Maha

The University of Queensland has awarded Maha Sinnathamby an honorary doctorate.

It said the awards publicly recognised exceptional achievements and contributions of outstanding individuals who have made a large contribution their community.

“Rising from humble beginnings in a war-torn Malaysian village, Mr Sinnathamby is a community leader, entrepreneur and philanthropist who is best known as the visionary developer behind Greater Springfield. His strong belief in the importance of education is reflected in the development’s 22 early learning centres, 12 schools and a university campus,” UQ said.

Vector appoints new chair

Vector Metering, a company that is 50 per cent owned by QIC, has appointed Mark Tume as chair.

Tume is a director of ANZ, Precinct Propertues, Booster Financial Services and chair of Te Atiawa Iwi Holdings.

Other members of the Vector Metering board are QIC partner Patrick Mulholland, Vector Group chief executive Simon Mackenzie, Dame Paula Rebstock, Simon Clarke and Sally Farrier.

Sayona MD departs

Brett Lynch has resigned from his role as managing director at lithium producer Sayona.

The company said Lynch was leaving for personal reasons.

James Brown has been appointed as interim CEO and Philip Lucas has also been appointed to the board.

SQX adds directors

SQX Resources has appointed Patric Glovac and David Sanders as directors following the resignations of Bryan Granzien and Tim Cooper.

It followed requests from Mount Bay Investments for a general meeting to consider reconstituting the board.

Austral’s new CFO

Austral Resources has appointed Angus Peterson as chief financial officer.

Peterson had been the company’s finance manager since 2021 and was previously an auditor with KPMG.
