Exec appointments: Queensland names new chief scientist
The State Government appoints a new chief scientists and a deputy integrity boss and more in this week’s appointments.

New chief scientist
QUT Pro Vice-Chancellor (Sustainability) Professor Kerrie Wilson, has been named Queensland’s next Chief Scientist.
The five-year whole-of-government appointment will see Professor Wilson play a lead role in Queensland’s response to the threat of climate change on the environment and the state’s continued focus on renewable energy.
She will also remain at QUT in a part-time capacity.
AMP exec takes on integrity role
Mayors pick MacRae
The Council of Mayors has selected Glenn MacRae as its manager of economic and regional partnerships.
MacRae previously worked with the Brisbane City Council.
Hoge steps up
Robert Hoge has been appointed as assistant deputy director general at Queensland Health.
A long term public servant, Hoge was previously with State Development as an executive director of strategic communications.
New union leadership
Queensland Unions has named Jacqueline King and Kate Ruttiman as its new leadership.
King was elected general secretary having held the role in an acting capacity since 2022. Before that she was assistant general secretary.
Ruttiman, who also is the general secretary of the Teachers Union, was elected president, the first woman to do so.
It is also the first time two women have held the posts at the same time.
Joey Kaiser has also been appointed as a co-ordinator of campaigns and Strategy at the Australian Workers Union.
Go1 promotion
Logan-based tech unicorn Go1 has promoted Nathan Schubert to head of sales, new products.
He was previously GTM lead for new products.
