Commenting on the results of a drill hole managing director Andrew Sparke said: “Wow, what an excellent start to the regional drilling campaign. These results confirm a new discovery has been made at the Mt Chalmers project.

“The questions now are how big could it get and how many more are there?”

The excitement is over a drill hole intersection of visible suphide mineralisation at the Artillery Road prospect, which is part of Mt Chalmers, about 17km from Rockhampton.

The drill hole hit an intersection of 20 metres of sulphide-rich skarn mineralisation with a 29-metre skarn envelope.

“Globally, skarn deposits are an imporant source of copper, lead, zinc, tin, tungsten, molybdenum and rare earths,” QMines said.

They can also be relatively high-grade and high-value.

QMines said geological mapping, EM and high resolution magnetics all supported this new style of mineralisation.

QMines said it would continue drilling at the Artillery Road discovery and it would announced drilling results when they came to hand.

It would also complete its pre-feasibility study of the Mt Chalmers project and assess the potential for a stand-alone mining operation.
