The deal has been struck with the Australian Motor Group.

The company said the funds from the sale would be used to invest in organic growth and strategic acquisitions.

The Goggomobil Dart became famous for a Yellow Pages television advertisement in the 1990s, but it was also an iconic car Bill Buckle imported from Germany and assembled in a factory in Sydney.

Bill Buckle has operated on Sydney’s northern beaches since 1963.

Eagers chief executive Keith Thornton said BBAG had been a significant part of the company for the past 14 years.

“We are pleased to have built a strong legacy of the Bill Buckle family over this period and we look forward to that continuing under the ownership of the Australian Motor Group,” he said.

“Our geographic footprint in NSW has changed considerably since our acquisition of Automotive Holdings in 2019 and it makes strategic sense for us to divest the business now as we continue to execute our Next100 strategy.”
