Tech guru Slattery bows out as Amaysim founder to lead Superloop
Bevan Slattery will hand over the leadership of his internet company Superloop to Peter O’Connell, the founder of telco Amaysim, which he sold to Optus for $250 million.
Peter O'Connell will replace Bevan Slattery as chair of Superloop
Slattery, who founded Superloop, has a swag full of other director roles as well as his family company CapitalB and his plan to save the Great Barrier Reef from the effects of climate change.
“Having the opportunity to pick when and how you take a step back from a business you founded is always an important decision,” Slattery said.
“Peter is an entrepreneur in his own right, co-founding Amaysim and has deep experience in branding, marketing, legal. regulatory, corporate governance and culture over his 30 years in our industry.”
Slattery retains his major shareholder status with 16 per cent of the company.
He moved into the chair in March last year when the pandemic hit and he said the company was now recapitalised and restructured with a new management team. It recently bought internet provider Exetel.
“Superloop is primed and ready for more growth and Peter’s appointment is key to Superloop’s strategy,” Slattery said.
O’Connell said it was an exciting time for Superloop and under Slattery’s chairmanship Superloop had built a reputation for strong customer growth across all segments.
