Our senses are already tingling at the thought of eating our way through a mouth-watering mecca of eats, so let us give you the lowdown before the same happens to you. Night Feast, Brisbane Powerhouse’s new twice-annual culinary and cultural celebration, will be taking place across multiple dates in March and October 2023. The flavour-packed concept will feature more than 20 gourmet food stalls, each serving flavoursome fare from some of Brisbane’s top restaurants. We’re not talking about your ordinary food-truck gathering either – Night Feast is a theatrical gastronomic extravaganza designed to ignite all of your senses. There’s set to be an open fire-pit for roasting, a dedicated dessert bar, whistle-wetting cocktails and an award-winning wine list – all perfect for communal feasting.

The brand-new event is the brainchild of Brisbane Powerhouse CEO and artistic director Kate Gould, who was one of the co-founders of Dark Mofo. Kate’s enlisted some top-tier talent to put together this unique experience, which has been curated by restaurant critic Lizzie Loel and Brisbane Powerhouse arts program director Brad Spolding. Visitors will be able to stroll inside a Bladerunner-inspired neon-lit village designed by Bruce McKinven (also of Dark Mofo fame), which, alongside a sizzling selection of gourmet food stalls, will also be lined with immersive installations, roaming performances, DJ sets and live music from visual and performance artists.

Each of the chefs and producers have been hand selected, with the March line-up including hatted chefs Adam Wolfers (Gerard’s Bistro) and Philip Johnson (e’cco bistro), Lyndon Tyers (Donna Chang)Tuan Nguyen (NGON)Lek Senee (Lek’s Thai)Damon Porter (Saison Salumi)Jerome Dalton (Dalton Catering) and winemaker David Cush (City Winery). “Our hand-picked chefs have been invited to showcase their signature dishes only,” says Lizzie, “meaning you can experience the city’s most exclusive gastronomic delights in one location”. Headlining the visual feast is world-leading installation artist Amanda Parer of Parer Studio (the genius behind those giant bunnies), Swiss site-performance designer and fog artist Tom Mùller, and internationally renowned Australian audio-visual artist Robin Fox.

Kate Gould said the biannual experience was unlike anything Brisbane had seen. “Night Feast will transport visitors to a surreal, sumptuous playground where world-class artists and Australia’s top chefs combine their talents to surprise and delight the senses,” Kate says. “Melding fine food and avant garde art within a dreamlike setting, this twice-yearly event epitomises Brisbane Powerhouse’s renewed vision for transformative cultural experiences.” Night Feast will take place in 2023 from March 1–26 and again in October from the 4–29, and will be open Wednesday to Sunday from 4:30–9:30 pm.
