Jeffrey Norman Young, 56, has been charged with 110 offences after a string of alleged incidents between November 2023 and January 2024.

Young is accused of filming a 12-year-old girl on a Mount Ommaney shopping centre escalator in Brisbane’s south about 11.30am in January using a small camera attached to the end of the walking stick.

After the girl’s family reported the alleged incident, Young was taken into police custody at the shopping centre five days later.

Queensland Police said they seized the camera and found a number of indecent videos and photos of women taken at the shopping centre without their consent.

Similar videos and images were discovered during a search of his home, police alleged.

Young was initially charged with a number of offences and remanded in custody after appearing in Brisbane Magistrates Court in February.

However, Young has been charged with 94 additional offences following a forensic examination of all seized devices, CCTV and other evidence, police said.

In total, Young has been charged with 106 counts of observations or recording in breach of privacy.

He has also been charged with indecent treatment of child under 16 (take photograph) and attempted recordings in breach of privacy plus two counts of stalking.

He is due to reappear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday.
