Accused Innisfail killer hit with further charges
A man accused of stabbing a woman in a domestic violence-related murder has been charged with further offences allegedly committed after fleeing the scene.
A man who allegedly murdered a woman at a property near Innisfail is facing other charges.
Further charges have been laid against the man who allegedly stabbed a woman to death before fleeing the scene and causing a car crash.
The 51-year-old woman was allegedly fatally stabbed by the man, who was known to her, at a property at Mighell near Innisfail in northern Queensland on Friday afternoon.
The 51-year-old man is accused of fleeing the scene before police arrived and crashing a car into a truck on Bruce Highway at Sandy Pocket.
He allegedly fled on foot and tried to carjack a woman before being arrested nearby.
The truck driver and woman were unharmed.
The man was charged with further offences on Monday, after police charged him with one count of domestic violence-related murder on Saturday.
The additional charges are wilful damage, dangerous operation of a car and two counts of unlawful entry of a car to commit an indictable offence using or threatening violence.
He remains in custody and will face Cairns Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
